Since 2012, the ACL Live business development team has provided ongoing consultation work in sponsorship sales and account management for various partner music festival promoters across the country, including BUKU Music Festival, Tortuga Music Festival, Neon Desert Music Festival, Pachanga Latino Music Festival, Fun Fun Fun Fest, and Electric Forest.
Here are a few examples of how I helped my clients achieve their event marketing goals.
Tito's Handmade Vodka
Tito's Handmade Vodka is now one of the best-selling vodka brands in the country, largely in part to their robust event marketing efforts. I've had the pleasure of working with them on several music festivals across the country, including Neon Desert Music Festival, BUKU Music Project, Tortuga Music Festival, Pachanga Latino Music Festival, and Electric Forest.
I built them custom sponsorship deals to utilize their existing event marketing assets as well as integrate into each event's DNA. Working directly with each of the festival's concessions teams, we created custom drink features to cater to their fans. I also worked with each festival's artist hospitality and VIP program teams to offer unique experiences such as build-your-own bloody mary bars during brunch hours, talent and executive management gifting, surprise-and-delight moments in General Admission areas, and deeper integration into exclusive areas such as speakeasy bars.
Twinkies @ Fun Fun Fun Fest
In 2014, Hostess Snack Cakes was investing heavily into the re-launch of the Twinkies brand. For their "Sweetest Comeback Ever" campaign, I built them a sponsorship and marketing platform at Fun Fun Fun Fest which facilitated the distribution of over 35,000 Twinkies over three days, including having the Twinkie The Kid mascot launch samples from the infamous Taco Cannon.
The guerilla-style marketing stunts caught a lot of earned social media and even got more mentions than some of the bands playing the festival, including being named the #11 thing SPIN Magazine saw at the festival.
KIND Snacks Bike Village @ Fun Fun Fun Fest
KIND Healthy Snacks was looking for a way to reach Fun Fun Fun Fest's unique demographic in an authentic way. Fun Fun Fun Fest was looking for effective ways to promote alternative transportation to and from the festival grounds, given there was very limited nearby parking. I built KIND Healthy Snacks a sponsorship and marketing platform that gave them the presenting rights to the bicycle parking area on-site. KIND Snacks partnered with a local bike shop to provide complimentary bicycle valet and repair services, with donations benefitting Ghisallo Foundation, a local nonprofit providing youth bicycle classes and clinics to kids.
BUKU Music + Art Project
In 2013, I consulted for BUKU Music + Art Project on sponsorship sales and on-site management, bringing a handful of major brands to their unique festival experience along the shores of the Mississippi River.
Heineken took the BUKU VIP experience to the next level by branding the S.S. BUKU, a classic New Orleans' riverboat docked adjacent to the main stage that served as the exclusive VIP hospitality area. Glowing Heineken green at night, their activation and branding was prominently visible to all attendees across the festival site.
The BUKU producers worked with local artists to create a giant hammock and interactive art gallery using recycled shipping containers. Vitamin Water stepped up to the plate to bring the project to life, giving festival goers a place to relax with a view of the main stage and festival grounds.
Brown Forman at Neon Desert Music Festival
Brown Forman was looking for ways to tap into the latino millennial demographic, so I built them a sponsorship platform to activate at El Paso's premier music festival. They were able to utilize their touring marketing assets including a branded Airstream bar and blow up bottle, and I worked with the festival's concessionaire to create signature cocktails on tap featuring Jack Daniel's whiskey and El Jimador tequila. Liquor sales that year reached an unprecedented high, growing over double from the year prior.
